Houston Guy, former teacher and head football coach at the high school, received 529 votes to secure one of the two open seats on the Wall ISD school board during the election on May 4.
“I am extremely honored to be voted in by this community,” Guy said. “I feel like – as an educator of 30 years – I bring a different view on problems the school might be facing. Wearing the educator hat gives me a different perspective in problem solving and hands-on experience.”
Voters turned out for the highly-anticipated race to select Guy as well as long-time community member Doug Wilde, who received 419 votes, for three-year terms on the board.
“I am grateful for the trust and confidence the Wall community has placed in me to serve,” Wilde said. “This responsibility comes with great importance, and I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to fulfill it to the best of my abilities.”
Guy and Wilde replace Curtis Holtman and Michael Jones who both served on the board since 2018.
