The Mean Green Marching Machine has advanced to the 3A state band competition after placing third in the area finals held on Oct. 28 at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa.
“Seeing the kids’ reactions to moving onto state was incredible,” said head band director Dustin Moses. “I knew what they had ranked, and just watching them be able to celebrate all the hard work they have been doing for months now was the coolest feeling.”
The state competition will be held Wednesday, November 8 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Wall will perform in the state preliminary round at 2 p.m. If they advance, they will compete in the finals round later in the afternoon.
“This week, leading up to state competition, we are focusing on fundamentals,” Moses said. “The band knows the show, they know the music, and they know all of the moves. It’s just working on what we can do to make our fundamentals better.”
The state competition performances will be live streamed on http://nfhsnetwork.com/.
