Hawks Head to Battle with Eagles

Football enters playoffs against No. 2-ranked Brock

It all comes down to this.

Tonight, the Hawks face off against the number-two-ranked Brock Eagles in the bi-district playoff game. The team and coaching staff know the matchup will prove challenging, but they are ready to leave it all out on the field.

“Brock is a great football team,” head coach Houston Guy said. “We need to make no mistakes and capitalize on the ones we do make. To win, we need to try and force them into as many bad positions as we can.”

Guy said the team has grown a lot this year, and they are committed to working hard.

“I think it has been a fun group to coach, especially for our seniors to step up and be leaders,” Guy said. “They have handled this group great, there haven’t been any complaints, and all of them take practice very seriously.”

The players know they have a lot stacked against them tonight, but they also are proud of the progress they’ve made throughout the season.

“I think we did better than we were expecting,” senior quarterback Gabe Haskins said. “We proved a lot of people wrong.”

Ultimately, football isn’t only about scoring and winning, and no matter what happens tonight, the Hawks believe they have gained so much as a team this season.

“We have grown as a family,” junior running back Dane Reynolds said. “We are not just friends, but we are family. Each one [of my teammates] has impacted my life.”
